Do three things before Black Friday: complete your Shopify Catalog data so an AI agent has facts to compare, reorder the first row of your collections so people who still browse find your best earners, and write shipping and return policies in plain sentences that both an agent and a nervous shopper can use.
We are excited to announce we are partnering deeply with Muse to enable agentic checkout with Shop Pay on all Shopify stores, offering people an easy and delightful way to shop and check out with Muse. https://t.co/KmRlKjoLoq

- What is happening: On September 21, 2026, @tobi announced that Shopify is partnering with Muse to enable agentic checkout with Shop Pay on all Shopify stores. Shopify's own account says that when someone shops in Muse, it searches Shopify Catalog for the best match and checkout happens directly in the app.
- Why it is trending: @tobi's announcement passed 1.9M views and about 9.2K engagements, and @finkd added "Shoppers find more. Shops sell more." Skeptics are loud too: @eric_seufert calls agentic commerce a mirage because Amazon blocked Muse, and @sytaylor notes that only 9% of consumers say they would let an agent complete a purchase (Accenture).
- Do this for the agent: Per @kurtinc, go to Admin > Sales channels > Agentic > Shopify Catalog Mapping and swap the human-written description for a product metafield written for an LLM. Then paste a product URL into ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude and ask "what data would you need to understand this product?" An agent builds its comparison table only from facts you actually wrote down.
- Do this for the person: @oliverkenyon suggests ranking collection products by revenue per session, setting the collection to Manual sort, and dragging the top four earners into the first four positions. The first row gets a disproportionate share of clicks, and on mobile it is often the only row seen.
- Do this for both: Turn on Shop Pay under Settings > Payments > Accelerated checkouts (@alexpagepilot), since it is the checkout named in the announcement. Then state shipping, returns and warranty in plain sentences: one suggested Muse prompt from @Musecases tells the agent to "compare ratings and return policies for each store" before it buys.
Does an AI agent read my landing page?
Shopify's description points to Catalog, not your page: Muse searches Shopify Catalog and completes checkout in the app. The posts do not say whether Muse also reads page copy, reviews or schema, so treat structured product data as the safe place to invest first.
Is Shop Pay checkout in Muse live yet?
Sources disagree. On September 23, 2026, Muse's own account listed Shopify one-tap checkout among four connectors it described as "all coming soon", while Shopify's account says merchants are already discoverable in Muse. Check Shopify's announcement for your market before you promise anything to customers.
Should I still invest in my product pages?
Yes. Only 9% of consumers say they would let an agent finish a purchase (@sytaylor, citing Accenture), and @TrungTPhan reports Amazon has blocked ChatGPT and Muse from crawling its platform, so most shopping still happens on sites people visit themselves.
Is there proof these fixes increase sales?
Not yet. No public numbers show that improving Catalog data or metafields raises orders placed through agents, so treat these steps as low-cost preparation, not a promised lift.
